The Shoremen soccer team (2-3) beat visiting Goucher College 5-0 in a non-conference game last Wednesday night. It was the first time beating the Gophers in four years.
Freshman forward Chris Nardo scored three goals, completing a hat trick to secure the game for Washington College. He was this week’s Shoreman of the Week because of his
performance.
Nardo scored his first goal of the game when he sent in a long shot off an assist from freshman Josh Goheen. WC’s next goal came from freshman forward Sam Wild, who buried a shot into the lower right corner. The Shoremen struck again just 17 seconds later when Wild sent a through ball to Nardo, who beat the Goucher goalkeeper to net his second goal of the game. WC scored for the third time in less than two minutes when junior defender Colin Kidwell knocked in a rebound off a shot by Goheen. Nardo completed his hat trick in the second half, dribbling into space and scoring
from the right side of the box after receiving a pass from Wild.
Junior goalkeeper Chris Phipps made seven saves in the first half for the Shoremen, while sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Cabot made five in the second half, including a diving stop on a penalty kick.
The Shoremen opened Centennial Conference play Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. game at Dickinson. Host Dickinson College defeated visiting WC, 5-1.
WC (2-4) got on the board at 79:58 when junior forward Jordan Haas scored (the first goal Dickinson has allowed this season) on a penalty kick. Chris Phipps made 13 saves while playing the first 70:55 of the game.
WC’s next conference game is Saturday at Franklin & Marshall at 6 p.m.
Sophomore midfielder Justin Geho is ready for the game on Saturday.
“F&M is a great team but as long as we defend as a team and capitalize on our opportunities we should be successful against them,” he said.
I was curious if you ever thought of changing the structure of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content
so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
