The brothers of Theta Chi would like to thank all those who contributed to and attended the 4th Annual WCTR Party in The Park on Saturday, September 11th, 2010. Party in The Park is an annual concert sponsored by the local radio station WCTR as a way of saying thank you to the local community. It also provided an opportunity for both WCTR and Theta Chi to support a worthwhile cause – Character Counts of Kent County, a non-profit public school system program that teaches children the six pillars of character development: trustworthiness; respect; responsibility; fairness; caring; and citizenship.
This year’s Party in the Park took place at the Kent County Community Center in Worton, Maryland. The brothers of Theta Chi had the opportunity to give back to the local community by setting and cleaning up the event, working with and supervising children, and selling admission and raffle tickets to support the organization Character Counts. The collective effort from the brothers of Theta Chi went a long way in supporting a worthy cause. A special thanks goes out to all the brothers who lent the helping hand!
The concert on Saturday was a huge success and included performances from The Blake Thompson Band, Me Equals You, Blind Willie, and The CTR All Stars. Also incorporated into the event was a classic car show sponsored by the ATC Cruisers. Food and beverages were served by local vendors and many children and adults seized the opportunity to swim around in the Kent County Community Center’s beautiful pool. If you were unable to attend the event this year, please join us next Fall in Rock Hall for the 5th Annual Party in the Park. A date, time, and exact location will be released in the near future.
As a result of the event, WCTR approached the brothers of Theta Chi about possibly recruiting one Washington College student to work as an intern at the local radio station. We would like to share this opportunity with students interested in pursuing a career in communications. If you, or someone you know, may be interested in this opportunity please contact Theta Chi Vice-President Andrew Antonio at aantonio2@washcoll.edu with the subject heading “WCTR Intern.” We’ll be happy to put you in touch with someone from WCTR to begin the application process. Thanks again to all those who participated!
