The 2010 volleyball season is underway as the Shorewomen look for victory this weekend against Catholic and Shenandoah.
The Shorewomen have a 1-3 record as a result of the Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg, PA. The Shorewomen lost their first match of the Battlefield classic to Salisbury, 25-15, 25-5, 25-14. Sophomore Jenny Lee had seven kills against one error in 14 attempts against Salisbury. Feshmen Lauren White, in her first game, had 11 assists.
The Shorewomen also fell in four sets to Messiah College, 25-17, 26- 24, 21-25, 25-19. Sophomore Rita Rivera had a career-high 18 digs for Washington College in the match versus Messiah. Junior Alyssa Forget had 10 kills while fellow team captain Maria Whitman added an additional five kills.
On the second day of the Battlefield Classic, the Shorewomen split two matches falling to Scranton 0-3 (25-14, 25-14, 25-17), but achieving victory against Lincoln 3-0 (25-5, 25-18, 25-17). In the victory, the Shorewomen had 17 aces with Lee and White both serving six aces.
Team Captains for the 2010 season are seniors Traci Daelemans and Whitman as well as Forget. Lacey Lister coaches the Shorewomen in her second season.
