In the men’s soccer game last Friday night, visiting Gettysburg College (4-7-1, 3-2-1 Centennial) beat Washington College 4-1 in Centennial Conference play. Neither team got on the board in the first half.
In the second half the Bullets scored first just 4 minutes in, but the Shoremen (3-9-1, 0-5-1) struck back quickly to even things up. Sophomore Justin Geho scored on a free kick at 56:02. However, the Bullets scored three more times in the second half to win the game.
Junior Chris Phipps made nine saves for the Shoremen. His third save of the game – at the 18:51 mark – was the 300th of his career. He is the fifth goalkeeper in WC men’s soccer history to reach that mark.
Their next conference game is at home on Saturday, Oct. 23 versus Ursinus at 2:00 p.m. It will be the last home game for seniors – Danny Wood, Duncan Leech, Gavin Rayburn, and James Bedrock.
