The volleyball season is winding down and the Shorewomen have just one game remaining. The Shorewomen are 2-6 in conference action and have an overall record of 10-18.
The Shorewomen claimed victory against Ursinus at Cain Gym on Oct. 13 with and impressive 3-0 win (25-19, 25-23, 25-17). Sophomore Jenny Lee achieved her sixth double-double of the season and had 14 kills and 13 digs.
On the third set of the match senior Traci Daelemands led the Shorewomen on an 8-1 run and secured a victory in the set. Freshman Lauren White led all players with 29 assists and hit .417 in the match.
On October 15 the Shorewomen fell to Gettysburg 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 14-25, 31-29) in the Breast Cancer awareness match, “Digging for the Cure.”
In the third set, junior Alyssa Forget successfully ended the set with a kill, giving the Shorewomen a 25-14 victory. This was the first time that Washington was able to claim a set win over the Bullets since September 24, 1994, which is a span of 50 total sets.
The Shorewomen fell to Haverford 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-12) on Oct. 19. In the third set, freshman Madeline Meyers helped the Shorewomen rally four points on a kill. Despite the rally, the Shorewomen lost the set 12-25.
October 23 the Shorewomen set out for McDaniel in the “WAC Attack”, but fell in conference action 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-23). Senior Maria Whitman had a career best 15 kills with an additional 12 kills and 18 digs from Lee.
