WC Volleyball Bounces Back

The Shorewomen won five of their last six matches this past weekend to improve their overall record to 6-8. The Shorewomen won two of three matches at Quad Match this past Saturday, winning against Arcadia (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) and Delaware Valley (25-22, 25-3, 25-19) but falling to Penn State-Berks (25-22, 25- 17, 25-19).

The first match against Arcadia saw junior Alyssa Forget with 10 kills and sophomore Jenny Lee with an additional 10 kills, three aces, one solo block and two assisted blocks. Team captain Maria Whitman added six kills and a solo block and Traci Daelemans finished with 13 digs.

In the match against Delaware Valley, sophomore Rita Rivera had four aces in the second set and ended the match with a career high nine aces. Freshman Lauren White had 22 assists and four kills.

The Shorewomen were back in action Sunday dominating at the Wolverine Invitational winning all three matches, against Wesley (25-14, 25-23, 25-13) Bryn Athyn (25-18, 25-14, 25-15) and Gwynedd-Mercy (25-14, 25-6, 25-16).

Forget became the 12th Shorewoman to record 500 kills in the victory. She was able to capture the record in the match against Wesley on a feed from White in the opening set. Whitman had a career best seven digs and kills during the match. Sophomore Kaitlin Rowan had eight digs to lead the Shorewomen in the match against Gwynedd-Mercy in the victory.
