Rowing Has Strong Finish at Schuylkill Regatta

Washington College men’s rowing finished second in the men’s frosh/novice four at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta this past weekend. Out of the 17 boats in the race, 11 were from NCAA Division I schools. WC was among the two non-Division I teams to finish in the top eight.

Sophomore Aric Charowsky, along with freshmen Chris Moylan, Blake Weishaar, Robert Billings, and Dominic DiMarino finished in 15:50.96 for the silver, behind first-place University of Pennsylvania.

The Shoremen’s top boat competed in the men’s open heavy championship eight against four rowing club boats. WC finished in 14:18.0 earning them 10th place in the race in, defeating Villanova, Philadelphia U., and Lehigh.

The Shoremen also finished 11th in the men’s open club eight, 20th in the men’s college frosh/novice eight, and in the men’s open four they finished 24th.

The Shoremen close out their fall regatta schedule Saturday at the Head of the Occoquan.
WC women’s rowing team strongly completed its last regatta of the season, finishing six out of 21 in the women’s open club eight.

The Shorewomen’s time was 16:02.33, falling behind Trinity, Fordham and Drexel. WC’s finish was the third-highest of the eight NCAA Division III boats in the race and was better than five NCAA Division I boats.

Freshman Emily Langan was the coxswain, senior Christine Lynch sat stroke, freshman Valeria DiLisi sat seven, sophomore Kate Fiori sat six, sophomore Rachel Benders sat five, sophomore Lauren Halla sat four, sophomore Gabby James sat three, sophomore Mariko Anderson sat two and senior Robin Heese was in the bow.

The Shorewomen also finished seventh in the women’s college frosh/novice four and 14th in the women’s college frosh/novice.
