Coming back from a very successful winning season last year of a record of 8-7, the Shorewomen are hungry for the tournament. Last year Washington College had their best season in the last six years and are looking for high hopes this season with 14 returning players.

The Shorewomen have a fairly young team this year, but are anticipating to give their lone senior, Sarah Cannon, a successful last season. Cannon is looking to lead the team after her achievement of 14 goals and ten assists last season. Following her lead, juniors are looking to show leadership as well. Brooke Paulshock, Caroline Stanley, Ann Eickelberg, Kalli Parrish, Liza Twilley, and Rachel Bartee are ready to assist Cannon in leading the team to another winning season.

Along with these seven upperclassmen, sophomores Mollie Shipley, Marissa Restaino, Katie Rogers, Corinne Ziccardi, Stephanie Seibert, Elizabeth Peroutka, and Olivia Hanley helped the team in their first year to have a very successful season. In addition, there are eight freshmen that hope to bring success to the team. Meredith Callis, Laura Nicely, Sydney Slavin, Chelsea Spector, Jillian Undem, Kathleen Maleski, Rachelle Martinez, Carly Eisenbrant, and Kathleen Larkin are ready for their first collegiate season.

Coach Julika Blankenship will return for her third year as head coach, after being an assistant for three years. Alongside her, Coach Blankenship welcomes Coach Heidi Pearce Yetman and Coach Leanne Hollinger to the 2011 season. Coach Yetman will be named senior assistant coach, who was an All-American at John’s Hopkins University while also having coached at St. Andrews School. Coach Hollinger will be named assistant coach, who was an all-conference and all-region goalie at McDaniel College.

The Shorewomen’s season opener is on February 25th in a non-conference game against Virginia Wesleyan. Conference play starts March 23rd at home against McDaniel. Come out and support your Shorewomen in their 2011 season.
