Baseball Drops to Diplomats

On Thursday, April 14, Shoremen Baseball lost 10-3 to Franklin & Marshall away. During the game, the Shoremen had two hits each from juniors Ryan Normoyle and John Rolewicz as well as freshman Ian Remington.

The Shoremen were able to score twice at the top of the sixth cutting F&M’s lead to 7-2. Unfortunately, the Diplomats were able to score three more runs in the bottom of the seventh pulling away with a 10-2 lead. At the top of the ninth, the Shoremen had one more run, ending the score at 10-3.

The following day the Shoremen claimed a victory against the diplomats when they played at home on Athey Field. The Shoremen were able to tie the game in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly from freshman Nick Marinelli, which allowed sophomore Sean Connole to make it to home plate.

In the bottom of the seventh, Junior Ryan Wilcox had a home run that gave the Shoremen a lead of 4-2.

From the mound, sophomore pitcher Joe Kearney-Argow tallied the win, improving his record to 3-3.

On April 17 the Shoremen fell twice in the double header against hosting Haverford. The score was 9-2 in the first game and 14-3 in the second.

In game one, the Shoremen scored their first run when freshman Brian Lewis scored on a fielding error made by the Fords. Remmington also scored on a base hit from Marinelli.

In game two, Normoyle had a solo home run in the first inning giving the Shoremen an early advantage. Despite sophomore Joe Willis singling and sending home freshman Liam Aquino, the Shoremen were unable to maintain the lead.

The Shoremen are now 16-14 overall and 7-7 in Centennial Conference play.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday when they play a double header at Dickinson starting at 12:30 p.m.
