The Shoremen outshot Goucher 23-7 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Senior goalkeeper Chris Phipps made a pair of saves for the Shoremen.
The Shoremen returned to action last Saturday with their Centennial Conference opener, a 7:00 p.m. home game against Dickinson. Dickinson College won 4-1 and the Shoremen slipped to 1-3-1 with the loss.
The Shoremen got on the board when freshman midfielder Bob Libera found freshman midfielder Matt Wilfong, who buried the ball into the lower right corner of the goal. Wilfong tallied his first collegiate goal, while Libera recorded his first collegiate assist.
Washington had a narrow 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Chris Phipps made 10 saves in the loss for the Shoremen.
The Shoremen are back in action this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Gettysburg.
