Washington College’s sailing team has already been hard at work this fall, competing in their tenth regatta this past weekend in Ocean County, at the MAISA Central Qualifier. They came in at an impressive fifth, beating other teams from Princeton, Villanova, Drexel, Penn State, and more with a cumulative score of 190. They’ve been traveling all over the East Coast going to Yale, Navy, & Kings Point, sailing against teams from Harvard all the way to the Coast Guard.
This season seems to be a fresh start as the team doubled in size with the addition of nine freshman sailors along with the eight returning members. With Washington College alumni Max Kurland joining head coach Josh Putnam and assistant coaches Tom Pierson and Mike Sipala, this season for sailing looks to be an exciting one. Look for them soon as they sail the Hood Trophy Regatta at Tufts University.
