Lauren Bell led the team with 19 kills against Ursinus College.

 

On Oct. 19, the Shorewomen volleyball headed to Ursinus College for a conference match up. Washington College came out strong, winning the the first two sets in efficient fashion. The host school staved off the loss, by taking control and winning the last three sets of the match. The Shorewomen fought valiantly in the last set with five lead changes, however the Bears eventually closed out the set (16-14).  In the match, Kate Liccione had a career-best 37 digs while freshman Lauren Bell led the squad with 19 kills.

The Shorewomen hosted a tri-match on Oct. 22, and it was a day for the record books. In their first match, Washington College was thwarted by Franklin & Marshall as they swept the host squad in a reflection of their high conference standing. However, the Shorewomen came back strong in their second match of the day against Catholic University. In three sets, where Catholic never scored over 18 points, the host squad secured their first winning season since 1993. In addition, Lauren White added her name to volleyball history as she recorded the squad’s first triple-double in seven years. White had 12 kills, 27 assists and 12 digs in their match against Catholic.

Washington now has a 15-11 overall record for their season. The Shorewomen’s final home match of the season is Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Come out to support.
