  • On April 20, 1986, Michael Jordan scored an NBA-playoff record 63 points at Boston against the Celtics. Larry Bird, in the post-game press conference, went on to remark, “That was God disguised as Michael Jordan.”
  • On April 20, 1994, the Detroit Red Wings evened their playoff series, 1-1, with the San Jose Sharks when rookie goalie Chris Osgood recorded his first career playoff shutout in a 4-0 win over the Sharks.
  • On April 21, 1996, Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls set an NBA record by winning his eighth NBA scoring title after scoring 2,491 points in 82 games. Jordan broke Wilt Chamberlain’s record of seven NBA scoring titles.
  • On April 25, 1876, the Chicago White Sox won its first National League game, beating Louisville 4-0. Five months later the organization won its first National League pennant. A.G. Spalding was the manager of the team at the time, but he was also the starting pitcher who recorded the first NL shutout. The first run in team history was scored by center fielder Paul Hines on a throwing error in the second inning.
