The mustaches continue to grow as the Shoremen won yet another game, beating the Mules 13-8.

“The mustaches are just so manly,” says women’s lacrosse senior Liza Twilley. “It reminds me of Sacha Baron Cohen”.

These mustaches are not only a hit with the ladies around campus, but they are also scaring off their opponents, propelling the Shoremen to 4-0 in the Conference.

Coach Jeff Shirk says he sees a different attitude in each player as they compete on who has the best ‘stache. “Some of them seem to have a difficult time when they try to grow out their facial hair,” said Shirk. “Many of them ask for my secret.”

The idea for the mustache competition came about when the team was enjoying their Spring Break in the glamorous Chestertown, Md. The squad also decided to swap their hair dye in the locker room so they have the darkest mustaches.

“Everyone wishes they had a dark mustache like the one I have going,” says junior long-stick midfielder Jonny Poe. “Just For Men hair dye is frequently being passed around in the locker room.”

After each match, the captains hand out “the Hammer” to the player of the game: a person who not only has the best mustache, but also the person who has the best celebration after a goal. The Shoremen have their own publicity entourage, having professional photographers on their sidelines snapping photos of their every crease roll.

“I have never seen a men’s lacrosse team with such talent,” says Athletic Trainer Dana Thomas, “Dominic Serio and Bennett Cord work so well together on the attacking end, it`s amazing.”

Being ranked number one in the Centennial Conference with the Centennial Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the Shoremen have surely showed their swag to their opponents.
Washington College’s Game Management team has had to stop people from running onto the field to celebrate with the Shoremen after each one of their wins.

“Being on the sidelines with Coach Shirk and the team is stressful enough,” says Head Trainer Thad Moore. “I am thankful to have such a strong and tough Game Management team to guard of our fans.”

Be sure to keep your eyes out for your very own Washington College Men`s Lacrosse team. There will be a spread in U.S. Lacrosse Magazine, featuring the striking facial hair and tremendous talent of the team.
