The Washington College Women’s soccer team had a big week as they were undefeated in 2 games versus Centennial Conference opponents.

On Wednesday, the Shorewomen defeated Ursinus College for the first time since 2002 when junior Brittany Weaver scored off a corner kick in the final five minutes of the game. The assist was credited to sophomore forward Suz Patinella after helping it across the box. The assist was Patinella’s sixth of the year, breaking a school record for assists in a single season. Sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Potochney had 9 saves in the shutout.

The “Girls on Fire” then travelled to Lancaster, Penn. to take on Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. Potochney finished the contest with 6 saves, earning her 4th shutout of the season, a new school record.

Potochney was also named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Shorewomen to an undefeated week and making 15 saves in back-to-back shutouts.

The Shorewomen are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in recent memory and will return to action Saturday, October 27th at home against McDaniel. It is the final game of the season and Senior Night for the 4 Shorewomen in their final year. Kick off will be at 4 p.m.
