Andrew Chirico catches up with senior swimming captain Lucas Morgan.

Q. How does it feel to pull off an undefeated season?
A. After pulling off an undefeated season, we as a team feel extremely accomplished as well as excited for our opportunity at the Centennial Conference Championships. We know that all the other teams are trying to seek revenge, but with our hard-work and determination that we have put in both the pool and weight room, we are ready to take on the challenge at the conference championships.
Q. After going 9-1 in the past two seasons, how was the team able to grab that extra win?
A. By motivating each other a little extra during practice and really hunkering down on those tough sets, helping us reach the top.
Q. You hold three individual records. Did you ever think you would get to this point?
A. While holding three individual records is quite an accomplishment, I would never have gotten to this point if it weren’t for the encouragement and support of my teammates throughout each of the practices.
Q. What is your favorite thing about swimming at WC?
A. Swimming has been a part of my life for 15 years now and I cannot imagine doing a different sport. Swimming at WC has provided me with a multitude of leadership opportunities in addition to lifelong friendships I will forever cherish. WC Swimming is like family and we have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day we get through it and have an amazing time together inside and outside of the pool.
Q. What is your most memorable moment?
A. Personally, my most memorable moment was when I achieved a NCAA Division III B-Cut in the 400-meter individual-medley at last year’s conference meet. But as a team, my most memorable moments have taken place on our training trips in Islamorada, Fla.
Q. What are your expectations for the Centennial Conference Championships?
A. First in the conference.
Q. Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
A. WC men’s swim has a tradition of our special cheer in addition to a pump up speech in our locker room. We are always the loudest and proudest team out there. I would never trade my team for anyone else.
