SGA President Taylor Frey Presents Resignation

On Oct. 2, Student Government Association President Taylor Frey announced his resignation. Below is printed the letter of resignation he sent to fellow SGA Executive Board members as well as members of the Washington College administration.

Dear SGA Team,
It has been an honor to work with many of you during my tenure as Student Body President. In the SGA I have always made serving students my focus. The spirit, enthusiasm, idealism, and hard work many of you demonstrate truly inspires me. I came into the SGA as a first year with that same enthusiasm, and a desire to help make our organization more productive and transparent. It has been a long ride full of challenges, but I am extremely proud of how far we have come in those respects.
I feel I have done everything I can to serve students in this role, and it is time I focus on living a happy, productive, balanced life. I do not think maintaining my position in the SGA will allow me to serve our students further.  The focus should not be on me, or any one of us.  It should be on how we make the SGA better for students as a whole.  I will be stepping aside via a letter to Sarah before the end of the week. I hope this will allow folks to focus on the important work needed to move the SGA forward. I have followed all the proper processes and procedures as SGA President and I am proud of the things we’ve accomplished.
I have been in close communication with Sarah and have worked out a transition plan with her.  I have been in communication with Nick as well, and I am sure Nick/Sarah/Candace will help guide you through the rest of this process.  I will support Audrey through this transition as well. Nick should be your point of contact with questions going forward.
I’m really looking forward to spending more time with the important people in my personal life, devoting time to my other service roles, and focusing on being a student for the first time in a long time.
My very best,
Taylor
