The Shorewomen began their three-game home stand last week on Tuesday, Jan. 24, as they hosted McDaniel College. Freshman forward Cassidy Quattro recorded her third double-double of the season in the losing effort.
“My goals for this season are to continue to help my team win more games and have double-double games consistently,” she said.
The second game of the week for the Shorewomen was against Swarthmore on Thursday. The girls were able to grind out a 66-58 victory, and avenged a prior loss to this team from earlier in the season. Quattro scored a game-high 12 points for Washington College.
“We needed a win badly and I was happy my shots were falling early. My teammates set great screens for me that allowed me to get open and finish from the floor. I continued to shoot throughout the game with confidence,” Quattro said.

Coach Alisha Mosely was pleased with her team’s effort and ability to execute their strategy.
“The game plan was to run on every possession and establish our post game. We knew we could tire them out with our substitutions and attacking them off the dribble,” she said.
As WC pushed the tempo on each possession, they were able to find open looks for one another which led to 24 assists on 27 made field goals.
“Ball movement was definitely a huge key in today’s game. Coach always reminds us that we are a better team when we move the ball instead of rushing into one quick shot. Today it showed,” freshman guard Caitlyn Clark said.
Clark finished with seven points to go along with a team-high eight assists.
“I think my role is mainly to be vocal on the floor, and to get my teammates the ball so they can execute. I try my best to penetrate and kick to get my teammates open for a shot. It is important to be very vocal and my coach reminds me to be a leader on the floor as the point guard,” she said.
WC has a young team with just one senior on the roster, Ali Grundy. Mosley encourages her to be leader for the younger girls to help them shape the future and culture of the program.
“We have a lot of young talent this year, and each game someone new steps up. Last night we had multiple people come to play and it is awesome to play with underclassmen who are showing continuous growth and want to succeed in the moment as well as develop the future of the program,” Grundy said.
“I’m super fortunate to have Ali out there guiding me. Ali is a great leader and role model for me and the rest of our young team to follow and look up to,” Clark said.
On Saturday, WC closed out their home stand with a loss to Muhlenberg, but they are still aiming to compete hard each time they step on the court the rest of this season.
“I think our main goal as a team is just to play every one of our games with a whole lot of heart and to just be tough and try to pull out as many wins as we can,” Clark said.
Grundy is looking forward to finishing strong in her final few weeks as a collegiate athlete at WC.
“I personally just want to play hard and compete every minute in these final eight contests and just really enjoy what is left of my career here at WC,” she said.
