Meet Grant, this week’s pet of the week. Grant is an adoptable cat from the Humane Society of Kent County who is about one -and-a-half to two-years-old. When meeting Grant, his age comes as a surprise, as he has the calm demeanor of an adult cat. As Kennel Technician Kaite Huffer said, “He acts so old, even though he’s still young.”
Grant is a long-haired gray cat with bright hazel eyes and the definition of a lap cat; he is always content and loves to be petted and cuddled.
Not much is known about Grant’s previous history, but the staff at HSKC know that his future is bright. Huffer said, “He’s so chill, and you could do anything to him. Even when we gave him his shots and everything he didn’t mind it. So he’s pretty awesome.”
The staff is not sure why Grant has yet to find his forever home. Huffer said that she thinks the only reason Grant has not been adopted is because he has a shaved patch near his tail that makes him look like he has a skin condition. “When Grant came to the Humane Society, he had a small wound on him and we needed to shave him to get to it, and so it looks like he has something wrong, but it was really just a small cut,” she said.
Potential adopters do not need to worry about adoption restrictions on this fine feline. “He’s awesome,” Huffer said. “He’s good with other cats. At the end of the day we put the cats [in their kennels] and Grant always has someone over for a slumber party.” Because Grant is so relaxed, he would likely do well with children and cat-friendly dogs. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find someone who Grant would not be friends with.
Grant also does not have any medical issues that future adopters would need to be aware of. “He’s negative for anything like FHIV, and he’s up to date on his shots, so he’s completely ready to go home,” Huffer said. “He could literally go home tomorrow.”
