Sophomore Aidan Sullivan and freshman Brett Edwards each earned three first-place finishes for the Shoremen in their defeat over Eastern Shore and out of conference rival, Salisbury University. Washington College won by a score of 142-63.
The win marked the Shoremen’s 26th in their last 27 meetings with Salisbury.
“It is always fun to have a local rival come. We had some awesome swims across the board. Salisbury really pushed our men to some season-best times,” Head Coach Matt Harris said. “It is always hard to get up and swim fast in the middle of the week, but our men’s team really rose to the challenge and swam fast.
Sullivan was named the Goose Nation TV Shoremen Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 100 and 200-yard freestyle as well as swimming the butterfly leg of the winning 200 medley relay team.
Sullivan was joined by freshman Andrew Feeley and sophomores Teague Sauter and Jake Brown on the winning 200 medley relay team.
Edwards won the 400 individual medley and swam the third leg of the winning 400 freestyle relay team. The other members of that relay team were sophomores Seth Wrigley, Dave Rovansek, and Brown.
Senior Cody Weiler won the 50 freestyle ith a time of 21.70 seconds. He earned a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.30.
Wrigley won the 100 butterfly in a time of 54.02 seconds.
Feeley’s time of 55 seconds even in the 100 backstroke earned him a first place finish in the event.
Freshman Leo Johnson earned a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.09.
Sauter was able to contribute a second-place finish in the 100 individual medley with a time of 58.64 seconds.
Sophomore Brendan Jones added a second-place finish in the 400 individual medley, clocking in with a time of 4:27.89.
The Shoremen then pushed 24th ranked Swarthmore College to the brink on Saturday afternoon, but fell in the end by a score of 111-94.
Weiler, Brown, senior Kevin Mackenzie, and Sullivan were all part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team that set a pool-record time of 1:27.26.
Edwards took home a win in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in a time of 2:12.54. With that finish, he became the Shoremen’s fifth fasted swimmer ever in that event.
Weiler earned a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.71.
Johnson earned second-place in the 1,000 freestyle event with a time of 10:15.62. He became the Shoremen’s seventh fastest swimmer ever in that event.
Jones took second-place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.11, while Wrigley took second-place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:48.40.
After splitting the two meets, the Shoremen’s record now stands at 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.
