The key word to describe Rosie Martin’s first basketball season at Washington College is transition. The sophomore guard transferred to WC from Muhlenberg College, where she played one season for the Mules.
“The transition from one college basketball program to another was challenging at first,” she said. “There were a lot of new plays and teammates that I had to get used to playing with. The coaching staff and everyone on the team was very supportive and helpful.”
During her first season at WC, Martin has had to acclimate to a new program, new plays, and new teammates, while also improving her own game.
“My goals as an individual are to work hard and have fun playing basketball. I transferred from Muhlenberg because I began to dislike going to practice every day and basketball became more of a hassle then the game that I love to play. I have tried to keep this in mind this season for whenever I missed a shot or received a bad call from the official that I need to just slow down and enjoy what I am doing,” Martin said.
Head Coach Alisha Mosley said martin has been an “added bonus” to the program, and one of the hardest workers.
“She gives us a defensive spark and everyday keeps getting better and more confident. I think she will be an important part of our program throughout her next few years here,” she said
Prior to her collegiate career, martin played varsity basketball all four years of high school. She was team captain her senior year and earned All-League and All-Conference honors.
