Kanye West Reactivates Twitter

Whether or not you’re a fan of the famously divisive musician, you’ve probably seen screenshots of some of Kanye West’s more off-the-wall Twitter quotables.

From the goofy, “I hate it when I’m on a flight and I wake up, with a water bottle next to me like ‘oh great now I gotta be responsible for this water bottle.’” to his innocent and inspirational response to a music exclusivity conflict in 2016, “We all gon be dead in 100. Let the kids have the music.”

In 2017, West deleted all of his social media, which he later revealed to be a mental health effort. He had been struggling with depression and, “showed no sign of improvement” according to a legal document made public. West was sued for nearly $10 million for cancelling his Life of Pablo tour in 2017 as a result of a mental breakdown, and a desire to spend more time with his family. This ushered in a one year public absence from West.

Recently, he has re-activated his Twitter account, flooding the meme market with dozens of new goofy assertions. He kicked it off by announcing that he is going to write a philosophy book called, “Breaking the Simulation,” and began shooting out vague, goofy, but positive philosophical blurbs relating to the book. Alternating between Tweets like, “don’t trade your authenticity for approval” and, “just stop lying about shit. Just stop lying.”

Beyond that, it seems he has become more of a self aware figure, even playfully calling himself out for some of his past mistakes. “I find myself getting stuck on the idea of originality and letting my ego push me to say things like ‘this person stole this from me’ and the funny thing is it’ll be a reference I took from somewhere.”

On April 19, he announced that he’ll be releasing two new albums. One solo album on June 1, and one album on June 8 released under the new group, Kids See Ghost, a duo consisting of him and Scott Mescudi, also known as Kid Cudi.

Mescudi has worked with West in the past on many projects such as “Cruel Summer,” and “Father Stretch My Hands Pt.1.” He also confirmed two projects fans had already heard rumors about, such as Pusha T’s new album, which he’ll be producing, as well as Teyana Taylor’s new album, which he has not specifically stated his involvement with.

Not only has this new era of West’s Twitter supplied the internet with memes, but also positivity, as West continues his history of pushing young creatives to give their all to their artwork. “As a creative your ideas are your strongest form of currency.” Many have taken this to mean there’s been an improvement in West’s mental health.
