Over spring break, the Shoremen lacrosse team played at home and then went on the road to face some tough competition in Virginia and southern Maryland.
On Saturday, March 9, the Shoremen kicked off their spring break competition by hosting Stockton University.
Next, the Shoremen went on their first spring break road game on Wednesday, March 13 in Norfolk, Va. to play Christopher Newport University and then ended their trio of games the following Saturday on March 16 playing on the road against St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
On Saturday, March 9 in a home game versus Stockton, the Shoremen had their hands full as Stockton won 16-11.
The Shoremen did not hold the lead the entire game, trailing behind the Ospreys.
In the first quarter, Stockton held a two-point lead followed by a one-point lead the rest of the game. It was a close game until the end and the Shoremen could not overcome the deficit.
The next game was Wednesday, March 13 versus Christopher Newport University.
The Shoremen opened the spring break road trip in Norfolk in another very close competitive game.
CNU would go on to win 11-10 in a triple overtime game.
After the first quarter, the game was tied 3-3, then in the second quarter and on the game, went back and forth with many lead changes.
The game was dead even at 10-10 until the third overtime commenced. CNU scored their eleventh goal, ending the match with a final score of 11-10.
The Shoremen ended their spring break trip the following Saturday on March 16 in St. Mary’s city taking on St. Mary’s College of Maryland. This was another high and close scoring game until the final whistle.
However, the Shoremen could not hold off the lead as they would go on to lose 14-11.
“We approach every game the same way, we focus on getting better every day and playing at our highest level,” said senior team captain and defender Kevin Wilson.
With a tough three games behind them, the Shoremen look forward to an away game versus the Red Devils at Dickinson College on Saturday, March 23 at noon.
The women’s lacrosse team plays at Dickinson as well that day at 3 p.m. Both games are expected to stream live on Dickinson’s athletics website.
