Student engagement is looking a bit different these days, considering most students can’t physically interact with one another. Although we might be apart, the Student Events Board has found creative ways for us to engage with each other.

According to SEB’s page of the Washington College website, “The Student Events Board is a student-run organization, made up of over 20 students, whose sole purpose is to plan awesome events for the students at WC. SEB is constantly working to have fun, innovative, and creative events to entertain a variety of students on campus.”

Some of these events include the Welcome Week for freshman and Shoremal, WC’s version of a fall homecoming dance.

SEB, “strives to serve students all over campus and provide something to do for everyone,”and despite student’s distance from campus, SEB is still working to put on fun events and giving students ways to connect and build the student community.

Already this year SEB has hosted events such as Back to School Bingo, and a Social Media Scavenger Hunt through their Instagram page.

There are more events to come, such as the virtual Trivia Night being hosted at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17. The month of September also includes a virtual sunset yoga session which be held on Sept. 30.

There are a number of events in October whose details are still being determined, but among them is the Freshman Choice event on Oct. 6, a Quanrentheme Week from Oct. 19 through Oct. 23, a virtual Shoremal on Oct. 24, and a Pumpkin Party on Oct. 28.

November holds the virtual Fall Fair, on Nov. 4 at 12 p.m., as well as a virtual Coffee House over Zoom on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

December brings our annual Campus Spa event on Dec 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

With these online events, SEB is giving students a way to meet and connect with one another while we are apart.

These events are a great way to build our campus community, while also doing what we can to keep the wider community safe.

The zoom links for these events can either be found on the SEB Instagram page or on campus groups, as it gets closer to the event.

More information can be found on the SEB Instagram page @wac_seb.
