Monday, Feb. 8, the Johnson Fitness Center will be opening their doors to all and only students. For the coming semester and until said otherwise, the Johnson Fitness Center will be split into the two rooms: weightlifting and cardio.
To access the Johnson Fitness Center, students must sign up for a one-hour time slot in only one of the rooms on the smartphone app, Genius. Only ten people will be allowed in each room at a time.
Scheduling one hour in one of the rooms and another hour in the other room is prohibited. Students must pick a single room to complete their workout on that specific day.
Students are required to enter the Johnson Fitness Center through the exterior exits on the side of the Fitness Center while wearing a mask. Masks must be kept on for the entirety of the workout as well.
Upon arrival, students will have their temperature taken and their Emocha app checked. Regular students must have three days of green check marks, while student-athletes must have five checks marks.
If a student’s temperature is too high or their Emocha app is not completed, students will be denied access to the Johnson Fitness Center.
“There will be a zero tolerance for members who choose not to follow our protocols and guidelines,” Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Nicholas Triano said.
Triano also recommends arriving about five minutes early to scheduled sessions so that students have enough time to get checked in and still have their full hour to workout.
Students will also be provided with sanitizer and a clean towel when starting their workout and will be expected to clean any equipment after using it. Sharing of equipment will not be allowed, unless it is student-athletes of the same team.
The water fountains throughout the Johnson Fitness Center will be shut off due to safety reasons, so it is recommended for students to bring their own water to stay hydrated.
Bathrooms will be open, but showers and locker rooms will not be.
The fieldhouse and racquetball courts are closed and will remain closed until further notice.
Hours for the cardio room will be weekdays from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. It will open again after a full sanitation at 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The weight room will be open only to student-athletes weekdays from 5:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. After a sanitizing session the weight room will reopen to all students from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m.
