Student Spotlight quarantine edition: Bess Mascone

Hometown: Middletown, N.J.

Where you’re quarantining: Mascone is at her home in N.J.

Major(s): Sociology and Psychology with a concentration in behavior and neuroscience 

Minor(s): Hispanic Studies

Year: Junior

Clubs/Organizations: Mascone plays on the women’s soccer team, is a member of the Washington College Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is the president of Peer SMART.

Plans after WC: As of now Mascone is unsure.

Plans after COVID-19: “Getting back to playing soccer again and having a full season,” Mascone said. 

What’s been keeping you busy during quarantine: “Lots of puzzles and trying new cooking recipes,” she said.

Learned something new: Mascone said she learned how to make a perfect omelet.

Your quarantine show, movie, and/or book: “‘Your Honor,’ I have not finished it yet but so far it discusses racial inequalities within our criminal justice system and nepotism,” Mascone said.

Work/Internship: Mascone is a shift leader at Playa Bowls, a smoothies shop in NJ.

Fun Fact: “I like spending my free time at the beach with a book,” Mascone said.

Advice for students in quarantine: “Try to keep busy and socialize as safely as possible,” she said.
