1. Administrate remarks were made by Washington College Director of Student Engagement Antoine Jordan ’12. Topics discussed included encouraging students to participate and/or assist in setting up ShoreFest and Admitted Students Day.
2. Motion to swear in the new Student Government Association Executive Board was passed. The new Exec. Board was sworn in.
3. Motion to open discussion on allocating $1,000 to Campus Garden was approved. $440 for mulch and woodchips from the Mill to clean up the space at the River and Field campsite on April 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. $560 is for Garden Beautification for May Day.
4. WC Director of Conference Services Elaine Grant and Campus Events are offering on-campus jobs during the summer, including Summer Conference & Events assistants and Lifeguard positions. Applications are now open on JobX.
5. The Public Safety report by freshman Public Service Liaison and President of the Class of 2025 Stephen Hook addressed the George Washington statue vandalism incident. The words “colonizer,” ACAB, etc. were written on the Asterisk initiative board on the George Washington statue on the campus green. The vandalism was taken off by PS. There are no cameras on the Green, and there was no way to detect who did it. PS is open to taking leads from students.
6. The report also addressed the Kent Dorm incident. The incident was an April Fool’s joke. Bathrooms were flooded because people filled trash cans with water and left them in the bathrooms. No damage was done. PS does not know who did it.
7. The WC chapter of the American Marketing Association is having elections on April 22. Reach out to junior Tamara Dyer at tdyer3@washcoll.edu if interested.
8. Black Student Union Dodgeball Tournament is on Friday, April 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
9. Budget cycle has started for next semester. The workshop times are Monday, April 11 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday, April 14 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both will take place at The Egg in Hodson Hall. Budgets are due on Friday, April 15.
