In Fairfax Station, Va., the Washington College women’s rowing team participated in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship on Sunday, May 1. This was the final regatta for the Shorewomen in their 2022 season.
The Shorewomen ended the day in second place after St. Mary’s College of Maryland on the Occoquan Reservoir.
The First Varsity Eight boat featured sophomore Kamden Richardson at the coxswain with (in seating order) sophomore Natalie Wisnoski, senior Analiese Bush, junior Sophia Rooks, senior Kitri Post, sophomore Alexandra Szynal, senior Caroline Jackson, junior Brooklyn Horine, and junior Mackenzie Westfield.
The FV8 team qualified for the Grad Final race after winning their morning heat with a time of 7:02.6. They lost by .3 seconds in the Grand Final with a time of 7:06.00, compared to St. Mary’s time of 7:05.7.
Junior Emma Radinsky was at the coxswain of the Second Varsity Eight A boat with junior Isabelle Bigelow, freshman Spirit Wright, freshman Samantha Joyce, freshman Jordan Hyde, senior Cassidy Predale, junior Amelia Bonsib, freshman Amy MacNair, and sophomore Makaela Oehler.
The A boat earned a winning time of 7:15.00 in their morning heat and continued to dominate the water in their Grand Final as well. They placed first again with a time of 7:27.2. St. Mary’s followed behind them with a time of 7:34.5
The Second Varsity Eight B boat included sophomore Keira Anderson, freshman Larissa Conte, junior Mariama Keita, senior Skyler Hancock, senior Sylvie Randall, freshman Faye Webb, sophomore Ella Yeigh, and junior Caroline Becker with sophomore Emily Dunsmore at the coxswain.
The SV8 B boat finished with a time of 7:36.3 in the morning heat, but did not qualify for the Grand Final.
The Shorewomen will graduate six seniors after this season. They include Bush, Post, Jackson, Predale, Hancock, and Randall.
The women’s rowing team will begin their next season in the fall of 2022 for the 2022-23 academic school year.
