On Thursday, Sept. 22, the Washington College Response Team sent an email to the College community sharing information on flu and COVID-19 booster vaccines clinics.
According to the email, the College, the Chestertown ACME and Walgreens, and the Kent County Health Department are all hosting vaccine clinics in the following weeks.
The College will provide three flu shot clinics provided by Walgreens on-campus, and two flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics sponsored by ACME on school grounds.
The flu shot clinics sponsored by Walgreens are Monday, Oct. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., all located in the Casey Academic Center’s first floor conference room.
“Please bring your driver’s license, student ID or passport, and insurance card,” the email said. “Flu shots are available at no cost with most insurance plans.”
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, ACME will host a flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic in WC’s Hodson Hall Commons from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“Please bring your ID and insurance card with you to the appointment,” the email said. “If you are getting a COVID-19 booster, please also bring your COVID-19 Vaccine Card with you. There is no charge for the flu vaccine through most insurance plans. Without insurance the cost is $51.99. The COVID-19 vaccine is at no cost, regardless of insurance.”
An off campus clinic is also available for students to receive the COVID-19 booster. According to the email the clinic done by the Kent County Health Department will occur on Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, Md. at 905 Gateway Drive.
“The KCHD will be offering the bivalent boosters from both Pfizer and Moderna at this clinic,” the email said.
The health department will also be holding three flu vaccine clinics.
The first is Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Rock Hall Fire Company, the second is Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Galena Fire Company, and the third is Friday, Oct. 14. All take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
