After a loss to the Salisbury Seagulls, ranked 12 nationally, Shorewomen field hockey looked to bounce back with a win over Stevenson University.
To kick off the first period, senior forward Julianna Sterling scored during the second minute of the game.
The second shot on goal came from senior defender Tatum Schatt which hit the post. Later in the period, the third came from sophomore forward Kat Esposito which Stevenson’s goalie saved.
The Shorewomen’s second goal of the game came in the second period from Sterling again, assisted by freshman midfielder Jules Weglarz immediately after a penalty corner.
In the sixth minute of the third period, a third point came from Esposito right in front of the goal with an assist by junior forward Alexis Tackney.
The fourth and final goal of the game would come in the fourth period from Tackney who was assisted by Sterling. This last score sealed the third win for Shorewomen Field Hockey, giving them some much needed momentum going into their third straight away game against Catholic University.
The team was led by Sterling’s two goals and Tackney’s one goal and assist. Stevenson University recorded one shot the entire game, giving some perspective to the tone of the game.
The Shorewomen look to their next home game at home against Saint Mary’s College of Maryland on Sept. 17, the first of a series of three home games.
