On Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Egg, the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega held a OneLove Workshop about setting boundaries to maintain healthy relationships.
This event was a part of their philanthropy week devoted to raising awareness campuswide on the issue of domestic violence. This week-long endeavor from the Greek life organization also included other on-campus events, such as Self-Care with Survivors on Feb. 14.
According to the email regarding this event, it was “a Zoom session hosted by OneLove Foundation…a national partner of Alpha Chi Omega headquarters…that [was broadcasted] in the Egg for everyone to watch and learn from.”
During the session, attendees explored the role of boundaries in relationships, as well as methods for setting boundaries in a way that respects the other person or people in the relationship.
The session began with Partner Success Manager of OneLove Michael Harley introducing himself. The workshop continued with Harley discussing different healthy relationship traits, as well as videos, made by OneLove, that showcase these traits.
After the workshop ended, AXO Vice President of Philanthropy and Copy Editor for The Elm senior Emma Russell discussed how she set up the workshop, conversing with some of the attendees.
“I am responsible for not only educating the chapter, but also helping educate the campus community about what healthy relationships look like,” Russell said. “We teach about domestic violence awareness.”
According to Russell, AXO partnered with OneLove for this workshop in order to connect with domestic violence awareness on the broadscale.
“Tonight’s talk was in partnership with Alpha Chi Omega’s national partner, The OneLove Foundation,” Russell said. “Our headquarters encourages smaller chapters to partner with smaller local organizations, so that is why we personally partnered with Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence, but nationally our partner is OneLove.”
