It is almost time for spring break. For some people, that means going home or going on vacation, but for others it could mean that you are stuck on an empty campus with few things to do.
Here are five ways to take advantage of your on-campus spring break to relax, recover, and have fun.
Downtown Chestertown: Explore it, taste it, Embrace it
Maybe the prospect of trudging your way downtown during school is unfathomable; it is a lot farther than a five-minute walk to class. Now is your chance to really explore what downtown has to offer.
Try everything on the menu at Play it Again Sam’s, or enjoy some furry company down at the Cat Colloquium. Stop by Chestertown RiverArts if you are feeling creative and try out a pottery class while you have the time. Once you are done, head over to the fountain in the town square and have yourself a picnic.
Why travel for the water?
Take advantage of the Chester River and all that Chestertown’s waterfront has to offer. There is no better time to rent a kayak from the school and get lost for a day, or to spend hours trying to catch a fish.
If you are sick of your dorm room, spend your day on the docks and enjoy the company of the birds and waves, reading a book that is not for school.
Relax and enjoy some self-care
With the busy start to the semester, it is safe to assume that relaxation and self-care is on the back burner. Now is the perfect time to catch up on these essentials.
Take some time to sleep, or watch new Netflix releases like “Daisy Jones and the Six” or the new season of “Shadow and Bone.”
Empty fields
Go round up whoever is left on campus and take advantage of the nice weather and empty fields. Take out a frisbee or a football, or set up a hammock or a blanket and make the campus an extension of your room.
Get ahead before finals
Now is also a great time to work on things that are put on a standstill when working on schoolwork. Take the time to apply to internships, work on your resume, or get organized. You will thank yourself later and feel comfortably productive.
Spring break does not have to mean going on a fancy excursion or traveling back home. Your time off can be meaningful right here at Washington College, where you have the opportunity to catch up on relaxation and work to prepare yourself for the rest of the semester, all while getting the opportunity to explore what Chestertown has to offer.
