Shoremen swimming fell to Salisbury University 203-59 in a head-to-head road meet on Nov. 9.

The Shoremen are currently 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Centennial Conference action. Additionally, the Shoremen are ranked sixth in the Centennial Conference.

Washington College won only two events in the contest, both taken by sophomore Nathan Rawa.

Rawa brought home the 100-meter backstroke (58.17) and 200-meter backstroke (2:10.71). Rawa also won his second Shoreman of the Week award for his performance.

“It feels good being one of the guys who can step up and perform in front of the team and make a name for myself in the conference. There is still a lot of season left, so I’m pumped to see how the rest of the road goes,” Rawa said.

He continues a strong start to the season, taking first place in three events this season.

“Coming into this year and having a year under my belt, I feel like I’ve found my spot here on the team and what role I need to fill,” Rawa said

Senior Zach Affeldt took home the only second place finish, placing in the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:29.16.

Next up, the Shoremen are on the road to take on the twenty fourth ranked Swarthmore College Garnet on Nov. 15. The Garnet lead the all-time series 27-5.

The next day, the Shoremen will travel to York College on Nov 16. to swim against the Spartans.

“Having a majority of away meets this year really only means less time on campus during the weekend. The bus rides help with time management, and a lot of people use that time to study or do homework. Away meets usually feel more exhausting than home meets because of all the time spent on the bus, but no practice the next day always helps with recovery,” sophomore James Hackett said.

WC is in the midst of an extensive stretch of road contests this season. The Shoremen are not swimming at home until Dec. 7, when they take on the Widener University Pride.
