Birthday Ball is coming up on Feb. 22, so it is once again time for Washington College students to decide what to wear at one of the biggest events of the school year.

Many students center their outfits around the dance’s theme. Last semester, the Student Events Board announced this year’s theme, Winter Wonderland, at the annual Midnight Breakfast. SEB decorated the dining hall with snowflakes and lights, making the space and event feel magical.

Popular colors for your outfit could be silver, blue, light blue, or gold to match with the theme but for this year, multicolored clothing pieces are gaining popularity.

If you are looking for other colors, you could go for silver or light green or it could even have glitter or a little sparkle to it, which could help you stand out in the crowd.

According to Seventeen, there are many gender-neutral outfits that also stand out if you are not particularly fond of a ball gown or a long dress. Add a detachable skirt to any pantsuit to really spice up things. A blazer jumpsuit in black would be a statement for this magical dance. If you are looking for other options, places such as the Christiana Mall also have a lot of good options for dresses and jackets to add to your outfit.

Freshmen Danielle Didomenico said she is looking forward to this winter night with her friends and to dance to all the good music the night will bring.

“I am most excited to see everyone dressed up in beautiful dresses and outfits and how they decorated the area and the dance floor,” Didomenico said.

You do not have to buy a whole new ensemble to make the perfect outfit for the winter themed night. You can find formal wear secondhand at discount stores or even borrowing from a friend. Looking at what may already be in your closet can help you pull something together at the last minute. Get creative and find what fits you.

You can also think about what accessories you can wear and what look you may be going for. Didomenico said she will be going for a more natural look and adding some sparkly jewelry.

According to Couture Candy, keeping a balance of jewelry and accessories matters. For example, if your outfit is heavily embellished, let the intricate details stand out. You can also add accessories like broaches, pins, and belts to add more to your ensemble.

What matters is feeling confident and having fun in the winter wonderland that SEB will create.
