Supportive staff and editors throughout the years and inspiring community members on campus and in Chestertown have made it easy to fall in love with writing for The Elm.
My thanks to my first Washington College mentor, Heather Fabritze ’25, for your encouragement and patience and for the strong example you set as a skilled student reporter. Thank you to Grace Apostol ’24 for remaining a supportive resource in the world of journalism and for being there for the tougher stories. Thank you to Riley Dauber ’24 for great leadership and for reminding all of us ‘it’s just a college newspaper.’ For editorial mentorship all around the WC publications world, thank you to Grace Hogsten ’25 and Lucy Verlaque ’25.
Thank you to Dr. O’Connor for giving me the insight I’ve needed to grow as a writer and the reassurance I’ve needed when overwhelmed. Thank you to Mackenzie Brady ’21 for talking with me about Elm days past.
Most importantly, thank you to Evelyn for so much patience, flexibility, and perseverance through the challenges of this year, and thank you to the whole Elm staff. Even though there have been many misspells and mistakes, and many weeks of so much emailing and writing it’s been hard to handle, I’m proud of the work we’ve done because of the dedication it’s taken to do it. Good luck to Aaron and next year’s team.
