In May 2026, Anna Killea returned to the Washington College Admissions team in order to fill two recently-vacated positions.

From March 2023 to July 2025, Killea worked as visitor services manager in the Admissions Office located in the Eugene B. Casey Academic Center (CAC).

Killea was re-hired after a 10-month hiatus spent managing short-term rental properties.

After accepting the job offer in May 2026, Killea now presides as the Visits and Events Coordinator, overseeing daily visits from prospective students and faculty and curating major admissions events; effectively combining her past role and that of Events Director.

“I was really welcomed back with so much excitement and open arms, and that felt amazing,” Killea said.

Another important facet of both Killea’s previous and current roles is her oversight of the George’s Generals (GG) program. The program consists of a cohort of student tour guides and desk aids who operate out of the CAC.

Killea also plans to bring back leadership roles within the GG program. These opportunities will give student workers further insight into the admissions process and a slightly higher hourly wage.

With an already established confidence in performing the duties required of the new role, “I was excited at the opportunity to get more experience with events … [and] have a little bit more freedom to work with the George’s Generals program as the supervisor,” Kilea said.

Killea’s goals for the visitor experience and GG program are to prioritize fun, create a more robust experience shaped by more intentional standards and training and to strengthen the professional development opportunities presented to students working in the program.

After spending 10 months as her own boss, Killea learned valuable time management and organizational skills that she will use in her transition back into the more structured hybrid position, even if it includes a doubled workload.

For those who worked with Killea before her departure, the news of her return was warmly received.

Senior Elisabeth Braswell is a third-year GG who was hired and mentored by Killea before she left.

“[Killea’s] organization and leadership skills were missed and are openly welcomed back,” Braswell said. “She has a confidence and character that we felt lacking once she left.”

The new position offers Killea deeper involvement on campus. “Already I’ve been able to branch out a little bit more and meet members of the campus community rather than just be in the CAC all day, which I still love,” Killea said.

Admissions counselor and previous GG Carlee Berkenkemper ‘22 is excited to see how Killea transforms the GG program. According to Berkenkemper, the program seemed to fall to the wayside in the years since her graduation.

In the lull before Killea’s return this summer, Berkenkemper interviewed and hired the incoming GGs, anticipating Killea’s excellent guidance.

“I’m just really excited to see them thrive under her mentorship,” Berkenkemper said.
